For our second issue the ROADBOSS crew – led by videographer and photographer Josh Thies – accompanied Heart of Australia’s HEART 5 truck on an Indiana Jones-like journey to Weipa.
In the mad rush to arrive before monsoon season kicked in, HEART 5’s journey involved a four-day barge trip from Cairns across the Cape York Peninsula to the remote bauxite mining town.
There over the course of a month the Heart of Australia team screened hundreds of miners across three sites, using their state-of-the-art medical clinic on wheels – a 2019 DAF XF 530hp prime mover hooked up to a high-tech B-double configuration built by Brisbane-based trailer manufacturer Varley.
