The official start of the revamped Heavy Vehicle National Law was among a raft of significant policy regulatory developments afftecting the heavy vehicle industry over the past month.

HVIA Seeks VIC VIN Marking Policy Via FOI
The Victorian Department of Transport has refused to provide HVIA with a copy of its policy on vehicle marking requirements, saying the association would have to submit a request for it via the Freedom of Information (FOI) process (which it subsequently has). Read more

Main Roads WA Drops Roll Coupling Policy
Following strong and vocal technical advocacy from HVIA and its members, the Heavy Vehicle Services team within Main Roads Western Australia announced its decision not to proceed with its proposed new roll coupling policy in its current form. Read more

Call For Stronger Telco Resilience After Outage
HVIA has written to Federal Communications Minister Anika Wells highlighting the significant impacts that recent telecommunications outages can have on Australia’s heavy vehicle industry and calling for greater recognition of telecommunications as critical transport infrastructure. Read more

New Assessment System Cuts Wait Times
Victoria’s new Heavy Vehicle Structural Assessment Permit System has processed more than 4,000 assessments since it commenced operations in January, the state government claims. Read more

Motive Power A Mandatory RAV Field From July 1
