At 160 kilometres long and nearly 50 kilometres wide, the dried-out salt flats of Lake Gairdner create the perfect opportunity to go fast, luring in the adrenaline-craved racing teams of the world. They call it the Great White Dyno.
And despite its barrenness, this Martian landscape has now come alive. Welcome to Speed Week. The smell of race fuel fills your nostrils, engines rev and roar, and the sun scorches as it bounces off the salt like a mirror.
